🎀Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide, and causes the most cancer-related deaths.
🎀Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in South African women (22.6%).
🎀The amount of cancer diagnosis has almost doubled over the past decade.
🎀For white South African females, your chance of developing breast cancer is 1-in-13. For African ethnicities your chance to develope breast cancer is 1-in-81.
… and yet there remains a lack of urgency in the seriousness of breast cancer awareness and prevention.
🔬Studies show that early detection of breast cancer can lead to approximately 90% successful treatment, thus highlighting the importance of early detection and vigilance for both men and women.🔎
☝️🙋♂️That’s right, men can also develope breast cancer in the breast tissue present. However, breast cancer in men is about 100 times less common than in women.
🫰The easiest, cheapest, and most comfortable way for women and men to act early and prevent long-term damage from breast cancer is to perform regular at-home self-breast exams and keep to the recommended schedules for pap smears and breast exams.
